Linden Smigelsky with two and Matthew Zurba scored for Dauphin, while Owen Chubka took the loss in goal.
Dauphin’s record is now 9-3-2-2 for 22 points. They are tied for fourth with the Major Pratt Trojans, who have three games in hand.
Dauphin’s final game before the break comes, Wednesday, when they visit the Neepawa Tigers in the annual Christmas Classic.
Clippers coach Josh Yaschyshyn admitted he was not sure what to expect from his squad this season.
“Lots of new faces, lots of new players. They had a whole year off from hockey. Overall, we’ve come a long way so far, but we’ve got a long way to go and a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be,” he said.
Yaschyshyn recognizes that the Clippers let a few points get away from them recently.
“But for the most part, we’re battling well. We’ve been in just about every game and that’s really all you can ask for at the end of the day,” he added.
Yaschyshyn has been most impressed with the team’s commitment to defence, as well as the depth.
“We’ve had a lot of sickness and a lot of injuries the last two weeks and a lot of players have stepped up and have had to play positions they’re not really used to,” he said. “And we’re really taking care of our own end. We have the second least amount of goals allowed.”
Dauphin returns from the break with a game in Virden, Jan. 5, against the Golden Bears.
