The Town of The Pas Council Meeting held their council meeting on August 12 at 6 p.m. in council chambers. This meeting was not live-streamed or recorded due to technical difficulties.
Council reviewed the Nuisances, Derelict, Abandoned, Unsafe and Unsightly Property and Vehicles By-law. This by-law is a combination of two former bylaws, which are By-law No. 4574 and By-law No. 4575.
“We looked at the two by-laws and felt it was best to review and update them,” said Town of The Pas Mayor Andre Murphy. “Now everything is in one place, so we’re hoping this will be easier for everyone to understand. We’re also doing a refresh on the fines and fees part of this by-law as well.”
The town is required to complete a Water Treatment Plant Assessment every five years and is now past that mark. The assessment involves a source-to-tap review of the water system to see if it meets provincial standards and provides recommendations to improve the safety and reliability of the system. It would also provide an opportunity for the town to look at the water plant boiler usage and its effectiveness.
