On a scorching hot day, 138 participants took part in the 11th annual Clearwater Lake Marathon after a two- year break. “It was great to see the enthusiasm of everyone wanting to participate after the COVID break. Everyone was really excited to get back into it again and we recognized quite a few of our regulars and a lot of new faces which was nice to see,” one of the organizers Alison O’Rourke commented. O’Rourke was joined by fellow organizers Michael O’Rourke, Blair Patience, Karen Driedger, Rudy and Heather Giesbrecht.
O’Rourke said they had travellers from Thompson as well as one lady in the 21 K category travelling in from Grunthal the day before.
“The heat wasn’t too much of a deterrent and all the racers managed well, we had numerous water stations set up along the trail,” she added.
