More and more girls and women are dominating in the sport of hockey and one shinning example of this has been Brigette Lacquette who played defense for the Canadian Olympic Women’s Hockey Team in 2018 and is now a Chicago NHL regional scout. This year the Female Jamboree featured Lacquette at the event and was an excellent inspiration to girls playing hockey in northern Manitoba.
“This was our second Female Jamboree,” said TPMHA Female Hockey Coordinator Morgyn Murphy. “We decided to host the event to give female hockey players the opportunity to spend a weekend playing hockey, building relationships, and making memories with other female hockey players. Most girls in the north play on co-ed hockey teams, because the female population per age level is too low to form female-only teams. However, through our jamboree last year, we were able to form a female-only U13 travel team with girls from The Pas, OCN, Flin Flon, and Thompson.
