Every year, the Major Pratt Trojans Pink Cancer game is one of the most joyful events in the community. And it’s more than just all that pink. This year was the 10th year that the Trojan High School hockey team hosted the fundraiser in aid of the expansion of the Community Cancer Care build in Russell. As time goes on, now we see more and more babies with their parents, grand parents and even great grandparents in the stands.
Over the past 9 years, the students of Major Pratt have raised $161,350. And it’s not only the parents, teachers and the team involved. Every year, the younger students give it their all too. This year, before the game even started, the K-8 students raised $8,421.00.
The 2024 total came in at just over $27,000 - close to last year’s record of $27,850. In total, the Pink Game efforts have raised an impressive $188,450 in aid of the Community Cancer Care build which will allow for chemotherapy treatment for patients from 13 communities across the Parkland including Langenburg. While the building is expected to be completed this summer, fundraising continues for a parking lot and landscaping as well as future equipment and furniture replacement that the committee will be responsible for.
