A team of their own

This past Thursday was a big day for Swan Valley Minor Hockey, as the first ever all-girls Swan Valley Stampeders took to the ice for their first official practice. The ice session saw roughly a dozen girls sharpening their skills. The team will be coached by a few great parent volunteers including the likes of Darcy Riddell, Kelly Gray, and Tammy Webster, all who have extensive experience in the game. “It is great to see all the girls skating together,” said Webster. “An all girls team allows the girls to enhance skill development, increase confidence, build leadership skills and create friendships.” The Kinsmen Club of Swan River also purchased the teams’ jerseys for the season.
