A trip down the river, a shoebox and a prayer

In 2003, I was a student with “Operation Mobilization Brazil” and part of a team that lived in Paraguay for three months. During that time we were exchange students at Bethany Mission and for a few days we lived on a boat called “The Angel of The River”, traveling down the Paraguayan river.

We visited riverside communities, bringing medicine with our nurses, dental products, and more.

Ken Kingdon talks snakes

Last month I was asked about what to do regarding a veritable invasion of snakes at a rural residence.

The resident has been relocating hundreds of snakes from around their house, carrying the wiggling mass in a large plastic garbage bin to a grassy area about a kilometer away.

GLH holds annual Awards Day

Seventy-three students were recognized for the academic achievements in the 2023-24 school year Tuesday (Oct. 22) as Goose Lake High held its annual Awards Day for undergrads.

“You just never know from year to year how many parents we’re going to have, I think the weather sometimes helps too as it’s not the nicest day today,” noted GLH principal Kirk Wilson. “So thanks for joining us today for our annual academic awards ceremony.”

Fusion announces the winner

Hamiota’s Countryside Studio & Gym has been named winner of the 2024 Fusion Credit Union’s Community Infusion initiative.

The business is receiving $20,000 in grant monies to expand its operations.

New child care spaces for RES

The saws and nail guns should be in action real soon.

Mountain View School Division (MVSD) and the provincial government are proceeding with plans to develop 104 new child care spaces at Roblin Elementary School as part of the government’s child care expansion initiative.

Public thanked for the help

Dauphin RCMP are crediting the public after tips lead to arrest of suspects involved in a vehicle theft.

On Oct.10 at approximately 6:40 p.m., Dauphin RCMP received information that a Ford F-150 pickup truck had been stolen from Roblin and was believed to be heading towards Dauphin.
