Fastball at Asessippi this weekend
The Westman Border Fastball Museum Twilight League is hosting its third annual Kickin’ Up Dirt fastball tournament this Father’s Day weekend.
The action gets underway Friday evening with girls and ladies fastball games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

17U Predators win national championship
The 17U Predators Volleyball Club are golden after winning Volleyball Canada’s national championships in Edmonton.
It was a rough start to the tournament for the Parkland-based Predators as they lost their three opening matches, May 20.

Local improvement plan panned
Residents of 4th Avenue SW between King Street and PTH #83 have said no to a Local Improvement Plan proposed by the Municipality of Roblin to raise funds through taxation to pave the shoulder up to their properties on the west side of 4th Avenue.
The residents had been calling on council to do the work as part of repaving 4th Avenue – ripped up to replace watermains back in 2021 – to correct drainage issues on the west side of the street.

Dixon one of 14
Roblin’s Lara Dixon has been named a recipient of a new scholarship at the University of Regina for academically high achieving domestic students.
The Chancellor’s Scholarship is being awarded annually beginning this year to 14 undergraduate students.

Ryder coming in to his own
Manitoba country rocker Ryan Keown has passed on his love of music and singing to his eldest son, Austin Ryder, who is now coming into his own in the country music industry.
Ryder fostered a love of music at an early age, which resulted in him singing on stage and taking guitar lessons.

D-Day was the greatest amphibious landing assault ever mounted in history.
It was to involve 150,000 to 160,000 soldiers, primarily from Britain, U.S.A. and Canada, but with some smaller contingents of French, Polish and other troops.

RVS expands its operation
A new business has stemmed from the purchase of the B & P Sales and Service building in Roblin. Roblin Vet Services (RVS) Ag Distribution has been setting up shop with more pieces of equipment arriving for their lot.
The business is an expansion and connection to the services already provided at the Roblin Vet Clinic.

Bruin captured
RCMP members and local Conservation Officers were called out to deal with an “unruly teenager” who was running around the neighbourhood near the Newton’s on Goose Lake Drive East.
The offender was tranquilized, removed and taken to greener pastures.
