Another Stampede for Larsen
It wasn’t his best finish at the Calgary Stampede but it wasn’t his worst by far.
Shell Valley’s own Orin Larsen had to settle for fourth place overall among the 30 competitors in Bareback at the world’s largest outdoor rodeo.

Jamboree on this weekend
The acts have been booked, the booth supplies ordered, the grounds are being prepared and everything’s ready to go for the Shell River Jamboree.
The three-day event, held at the Shell River Métis Centre at Boggy Creek, takes place July 5, 6 and 7 and organizers are looking forward to another great weekend.

Thirty-nine students make the grade
Goose Lake High held its Commencement exercises Saturday, June 22, with 39 students receiving their high school diplomas.
One seat on the stage remained empty in memory of their classmate Harlyn Paul.

Grade 8 farewell at RES
Roblin Elementary School bid its Grade 8 a fond farewell Wednesday morning at a special assembly.
Twenty-three students – with the exception of Carter Rands who is off to Athol Murray College of Notre Dame to suit up for the Hounds – are set to head for Goose Lake High this fall.

Foundation hands out cash
The Roblin District Community Foundation held its annual Grants Evening and AGM Wednesday at the Life & Art Centre awarding almost $54,461 to various local concerns.
During the brief AGM which followed the presentations, board chair Guy Hammond said the foundation had another good year with the community continuing its welcome support through the Donor’s Choice campaign.

The Parkway Co-op has had another good year.
The co-op held its 78th annual general meeting Tuesday night (June 18) with 18 members attending the virtual proceedings.

Couple lose home to fire
A young couple who recently got engaged have lost the home they are still in the process of renovating to a fire.
The fire at the home of Jessie Laroche and Zachary Lynxleg, located about three kms east of town, was reported shortly before noon Friday by a passing motorist.

RCMP warn of gift card scams
RCMP would like to remind everyone, that if someone is asking you to buy gift cards, and send them the codes as a payment for something, this is a scam.
No reputable business takes gift card codes as payment for anything. Never buy and send gift cards to anyone for payment.

New owners at RFP
Roblin Forest Products, one of Manitoba’s oldest forest products companies founded in 1958, has started the week off under new ownership.
RFP has been acquired by Bell Lumber and Pole, a company with an extensive history in the industry that goes back over a hundred years and several generations.
