The Valley Lions Clubs came together on Saturday (March 18) to host the 24th annual Billy Beal Classic Ice Fishing Derby at Whitefish Lake. Always a well-attended event, this year’s return after a COVID-19 break was no different. With $10,000 up for grabs, Winnipegosis’ Thomas McKay landed a 4 lb. 2 oz. Northern Pike with 14 minutes left in the tournament and weighed it in with six minutes remaining. Despite the cold temperatures, it was a successful event out on the ice.
