Going for Gold
On March 7-9, the U13 Swan Valley Stampeders attended Rural B Provincials in Lundar. In round robin play, the Stamps played Riverton and won by a score of 13-4. The team then played St. Eustache but came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 score. That put the Stampeders in the fourth overall seed, where they went on to face Morden with a spot in the semi finals on the line. The young Stamps would go on to defeat Morden 2-1, setting up a date with the rival Flin Flon Bombers to play for a chance for provincial gold. In semi final contest, the Stampeders advanced, thanks to an impressive 4-2 victory. They then went on to play Hartney for gold. Unfortunately, Cinderella checked out, leaving the Stampeders with the silver medal after dropping the gold medal game by a score of 6-2.

The original event was held in 2007 when a high school student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. Pink Shirt Day has since served as an awareness campaign against bullying.
