Even though they only had six picks in the recent Manitoba Junior Hockey League draft, Kings head coach and general manager Doug Hedley was pleased with the results.
After autoprotecting local products Quentin Fisk and Hayden Shtykalo, the Kings selected forwards Shea Rollason, Sage Dela Cruz and Kingston Gunn along with defencemen Brody Wyntick, Brady Bell and William Spencer.
“We were trying to trade up in the draft if we could to try and get the kids we wanted and we ended up with them anyway. Sometimes the best trades you make are the ones you don’t,” Hedley said.
“It all worked out.”
