Winnipeg artist and local historian Michael P. Yakimishyn’s painting entitled “Hillside, My Sister and I,” a 30” × 24” acrylic on canvas, was painted from a photograph taken by his mother, Ann Yakimishyn, during the summer of 1946.
The photograph captures his sister, Alice, and the artists standing in front of their parents’ store, the famous Hillside Store.
