Prairie Mountain Health is taking additional steps to encourage community members to protect their kidneys.
March is kidney awareness month, and PMH encourages everyone to learn more about protecting their ‘beans.’

An update from the LAC
The Life and Art Centre has been busy with projects this year. In addition to refinishing the wood floors on the main floor, the outdoor greenspace project is also well underway.
Memorial benches will be installed this spring with hopes of an outdoor amphitheatre installation in the near future.

Four decades of firefighting
The Roblin Fire & Rescue department is one of the few in Manitoba that can boast having members who have spent more than half of their lives dedicated to fire protection and emergency response in the area.
Recently, RFR Captain Emil Roller celebrated 40 years of dedicated service and it all started with his initial move to town.

Province hopes to bring nurses back
The Manitoba government is working with three nursing regulatory colleges to create a streamlined path for former nurses to return to work.
The interim changes will ensure former licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses who worked in Manitoba’s health-care system in the last five years and were in good standing with their regulatory college have a faster, more flexible pathway to return to their profession.

Grandview's Morran wins again
Grandview’s Lindsey Morran went to his first ever Trappers’ Festival in The Pas last year to compete and won first place for his chainsaw carving.
He went again this year and took home the top prize in the Brody’s No Frills chainsaw carving competition again.

Elite league proposed
The Manitoba U18 AAA League Board of Directors formed a Competition Committee in December 2022 to look at restructuring the league.
Last July, the committee provided four recommendations to the board of directors. On Aug. 27, those concepts were voted on for the committee to pursue.

Even longer wait times for BreastChecks
Women waiting to get checked for breast cancer in the Parkland are facing even longer waiting times.
Reports indicate that several women in the region have received anothe phone call to yet again reschedule their BreastCheck appointments to a later date, and this time, a location even farther away and right out of the Prairie Mountain Health region.

World Day of Prayer service Friday
Local women are gearing up to celebrate with their Christian counterparts in Palestine and all over the world in the 2024 World Day of Prayer service.
This year’s service in Roblin, prepared by the Christian women of Palestine, takes place this Friday at the Free Methodist Church

Police deal with a lot of custody complaints
Did you know, that in order for police to enforce family custody agreements it needs to be signed by a judge? Did you know that if you breach that order, you may be charged with breach of court order?
Roblin RCMP get a lot of calls from angry parents saying the other parent is not following the order.
