Prairie Mountain RCMP would like to thank the community and the Municipality of Roblin for all the help that was received in the firearm incident on August 13.

24-hour travel centre coming to Yorkton

Legacy Co-op announces plans to construct the Legacy Co-op Travel Centre, a purpose-built destination for professional drivers, RV travelers, and local motorists at the corner of Highway 9 and Grain Millers Road.
The facility is designed to improve safety, access and amenities in a high-traffic industrial corridor while delivering new convenience and service options to the broader community.

Manitoba AG checks for wrongdoing

Manitoba auditor general Tyson Shtykalo on Thursday released a report that examines allegations of wrongdoing involving several Manitoba municipalities .as well as the provincial government's oversight of municipal operations.
This report was initiated following a request from the Minister of Finance under Section 16 of The Auditor General Act, prompted by a cybersecurity incident involving the Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone.

Project a labour of love

For the past two years, volunteers of the St. Elijah Pioneer Museum have been working to restore the St. Elijah Pioneer Church, one of two designated heritage buildings on the museum site in Lennard, just north of Inglis.
Some 26 volunteers spend more than 300 horus to complete the work.

Arrest leads to charges

RCMP received a number of calls in the early evening of Aug. 12 – including one from an off duty police officer – about a male and a female, both intoxicated, who were attempting to ride their bikes but were failing miserably and falling hard.
Police located the pair and while attempting to arrest them, a 37-year-old man from the Roblin area assaulted both police officers involved.

PCs call out the Premier

Manitoba’s official Opposition has filed a complaint with the province’s Commissioner of Elections against Premier Wab Kinew and the NDP for making a new government promise during the Spruce Woods byelection blackout
period.
The blackout applies to all government advertising and news releases except where the health and safety of Manitobans – such as new fire bulletins – may be at risk.

Public alert issued

RCMP are continuing to investigate a disturbance Wednesday,  Aug. 13 that generated a “shelter in place” message from the Municipality of Roblin to alert local residents of a possible dangerous situation.
About 3:55 on Wednesday afternoon, officers with the Roblin Detachment responded to a report of a disturbance outside a residence located on Princess Street in the southwest part of the community.

Darlene Jackson loved her community. If there was a fundraiser to be held or a way to showcase her community, she was always right there to help out.
Like many in the area, the Inglis Grain Elevators National Historic Site was close to her heart. That same sentiment is what drives the Darlene Jackson Memorial Golf Tournament where all of the proceeds to help fund the day-to-day operation and on-going maintenance of the Inglis elevators, which were lovingly named the Prairie giants, by the locals years ago.

Conservatives call for action

Both the provincial and federal Conservative parties are calling on the NDP and Liberal governments to act in light of China’s new tariff on canola.
The tariff is in retaliation for Canada's 100 per cent tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles and a 25 per cent levy on Chinese aluminum and steel products imposed on Oct. 1.
