The Pas Arts Council is hosting a screening of an Indigenous horror film as part of Culture Days events on the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. The film was written and produced by Tim Riedel, who has a connection to The Pas.
“I’m a Red River Métis filmmaker originally from Manitoba, although I’m currently based in Toronto,” said Riedel. “I spent much of my earlier career working in documentary, travelling internationally and helping tell stories about marginalized people living in remote communities. I've covered topics like rehabilitating child soldiers in Northern Uganda, child exploitation in East Asia, infant mortality in Myanmar, the war in Afghanistan and displaced Syrians in the Middle East. Over time, I realized I was travelling halfway around the world to share other people's stories while avoiding some of the difficult stories within my own family and community. Being confronted with that changed the direction of my work.
