School board elections needed
Voters in three Mountain View School Division wards will head to the polls, Oct. 30, to fill four vacant seats on the board of trustees after the nomination process identified nine candidates.
Voters in Ward 1 (Roblin) will select two trustees from three candidates.

Government celebrates 1st anniversary
Premier Wab Kinew and the Manitoba government are marking one year of progress on the things that matter most to Manitobans, like fixing health care and making life more affordable for families.

Teff combined
Parkland Crop Diversification Foundation applied research specialist James Frey thinks Teff is offering local producers another option when it comes to crop management
The PCDF combined its first large scale plot of Teff, eight acres, on Oct. 3.

Special art exhibit coming to town
The library is proud to be a venue to host the Creative Reflections pop-up art show on Oct. 10 from 3 to 7 p.m.
The exhibit, made possible by the Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention Committee of Prairie Mountain Health, is a collection of art and designed to help reduce the stigma associated with talking about mental illness and suicide.

Friendly's members make it official
Members of the Friendly’s grocery store co-op in Inglis have voted in favour of a move to new premises.
While prep work at the new location – the community’s old curling rink – is already taking place, an official vote was held Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Skaters wanted
With the arena ice going in soon and another season of winter sports beginning, the Roblin Skating Club is looking to attract new skaters this year.
The club, which has been going for at least 60 years, is hoping to increase numbers, especially for its CanSkate program.

Fuel Good Day held
The Parkway Co-op held its annual Fuel Good Day fundraiser Tuesday, Sept. 17 raising funds for minor ball in Roblin and for the Parent Advisory Council in Rossburn.
In Roblin, the promotion raised a grand total of $2,033.50 while the Co-op sponsored barbeque held in conjunction brought in $953.06.

Novice driver ticketed
Prairie Mountain RCMP responded to 48 calls for service in the Roblin area, for a total of 134 calls for service in the Prairie Mountain area in the last two weeks.
In one incident, a person pulled over and was given ticket for driving in the learner stage without a supervising driver, cost $203 and fail to produce driver’s licence, cost $113. Warnings given for not having a front licence plate, and having a broken headlight

New attractions add to festival success
Roblin’s second annual Fall Harvest Festival held Sept. 14 went off without a hitch and another successful event bodes well for its future.
The festival is a joint-venture between the Roblin District Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality of Roblin’s Rec Department and was created to bring the community together.

GoFundMe page set up
Wendell Estate Honey has set up a GoFundMe page to raise $18,000 for three of its temporary foreign workers who were robbed at gunpoint in Mexico.
On Sept. 8, eight Wendell employees boarded a plane to return to their homes in Mexico. Three of those eight were women (Isa, Jacque and Monse) from a small city in the state of Veracruz.
