Father and son up for MCMA awards

Ryan Keown and son Austin Ryder are both up for MCMA awards this year.

Ryder is breaking ground on the music scene with his latest release Spin. He recently released a music video for the song and it’s gained popularity with listeners all over. His musical talents have certainly caught attention and he has been nominated for the Emerging Artist of the Year Award by the Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA).

High tech butcher shop opens in Russell

It’s farm to table – with first of its kind in Canada technology mixed in. And Nerbas Bros. Angus have brought it to Russell’s Main Street.

“In plain terms, it is a self-serve automated retail location,” Arron Nerbas explained.

75 years of service

The Roblin & District Health Care Auxiliary is celebrating a major milestone in October.

The auxiliary is celebrating its 75th year of dedicated volunteer service to the community and is holding a fundraising luncheon Oct. 25.

Harvest progessing

A mix of weather this week still allowed for good harvest progress in Manitoba Agriculture’s Northwest region.

Unsettled weather events did bring thunderstorms to parts of the region, including hail in the Swan Valley area. There was varying degrees of damage to some crops.

Busy weekend

A constable with Manitoba RCMP Eastman Traffic Services took multiple drivers off the road during a weekend shift.

The officer began the weekend shift out of the East St. Paul RCMP Detachment on Sept. 6. and began patrolling on Wenzel Street in East St. Paul.

It's back to school

The first day of school after summer holidays looked a little different at Roblin Elementary School this year.

“We don’t have kids here all day today, we did opening day conferences,” noted RES principal Mark Rathgeber during the noon hour Wednesday.

Fall festival this Saturday

The Municipality of Roblin Recreation Department and the Roblin and District Chamber of Commerce have been working hard to bring a traditional Fall Harvest Festival to our community for a second year!

The event takes place this Saturday, Sept. 14.

Trustee byelection coming

A byelection has been set for Oct. 30 to fill four vacant positions on the Mountain View School Division board of trustees.

The polling will seek to identify two trustees in Ward 1, which covers the Municipality of Roblin, and one trustee for Wards 2 and 4.

Shopping tourists visit the area

It wasn’t exactly the Magical Mystery Tour but there was some mystery and some magic so it came pretty close.

On Wednesday, a group of 19 people boarded a bus from Shuttle Bug Tours & Charter Services based at Onanole for a day-long guided retail tourism experience in the Roblin-Russell area.
