On A Magic Carpet Ride
The Thunderhill Ski Area held the grand opening, ribbon cutting ceremony of the Co-op Community Magic Carpet ride trail this past Saturday (Jan. 31). This exciting addition to the ski hill makes learning to ski easier, and more fun for their youngest riders and beginners. Pictured here, the first users of the Magic Carpet ride test things out. Boxing Day Family Fun
The annual Boxing Day Family and Friends Funspiel proved once again that this tradition is about much more than stones and ice. Families, friends, and curlers of all ages filled the Swan River Community Centre with laughter, friendly competition, and holiday spirit. With great shots, plenty of smiles, and a warm crowd cheering everyone on, it was a perfect reminder of how sport brings our community together. Organizers thanked all participants and supporters who helped make the day full of fun, fellowship, and good curling.

A gorgeous array of colours
The Northern Lights were astounding on Nov. 11, as a powerful solar storm provided an impressive display of colours lighting up in the night sky. The Northern Lights continued to be visible days after, but not as bright and vibrant as on Nov. 11.
Is it wet enough for you?
After a dry summer with very little precipitation, the taps were turned on during the last couple of weeks, with 71.9 mm of rain being reported in Swan River between Aug. 11-17, or 132.3 mm total if extended to Aug. 6. Only two days in that time period experienced no precipitation at all. The third annual Western Canadian Chuckwagon and Junior Chariot Championship took place during the four days of the NorthWest Round-up and Exhibition, with 112 heats of races around the half-mile track on the Swan River Agricultural Society Grounds...
Another one in the books
The Swan River Valley Agricultural Society Grounds were once again bustling with activity as the NorthWest Round-up and Exhibition (NWRE) drew crowds from near and far. Whether it was the shows and races in front of the grandstand, the tastes of the food booths, the entertainment of the midway, or much, much more, the NWRE had a little something for everybody.
