Mazier takes on new role

Changes coming to the Prairie Classic
Over the last few years, the Prairie Classic Walleye Tournament has been somewhat of a kick off to summer as anglers from all over Manitoba and Saskatchewan head to Lake of the Prairies to look for those winning walleye.
Last fall, it was announced that Kickerfish, a media company specializing in organizing kayak angling tournaments and fishing shows in central Canada would be taking over the Prairie Classic while retaining the helping hands of members of the Russell Lions Club.

Education leaders meet
The presidents of Canada’s teacher organization met in Whitecap, Saskatchewan, May 25 and 26 to discuss protecting public education across Canada.
The discussion focused on two critical concerns: the ongoing challenges with teacher retention and recruitment, and the rising incidents of violence and aggression in schools.

Harvest Hill Christian Academy ready to open
A Christ-centred, family-focused independent K-9 school is set to open its doors in Roblin this fall.
Founded in 2023 as the Harvest Homeschool Co-op running out of Roblin’s Evangelical Mission Church, it is transitioning for the 2025-26 academic year into the Harvest Hill Christian Academy.

Wendells take honey to Saudi Food Show
Visitors to one of the most significant gatherings in the food and beverage industry across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia got a chance to sample a real homegrown treat this year – Wendell Estate Honey.
The Saudi Food Show, which ran from May 12 to 14 in the Kingdom’s capital Riyadh, attracted more than 40,000 visitors and 1,300 exhibitors from over a hundred countries.

Dagger hits target
The Saskatchewan Craft Council (SCC) has recognized the work of a Yorkton-based custom forged knife maker with a spot in its Dimensions 2025 art exhibit.
Bield’s own Colton Yellowaga of Cry Knives in Yorkton’s piece “Forged Damascus Dagger” made the shortlist of 60 entries, out of 222 in all, to earn a spot in the show.

Roblin hosts area HERO Clubs
obllih’s HERO Club hosted a gathering of Parkland-area HERO clubs Wednesday at the Drop-In Centre.

Wellness and Healing Expo coming to town
A wedding in Roblin was the impetus for three entrepreneurs from Saskatchewan to bring their Twin Pine Crystal’s and Friends Wellness and Healing Expo to town.
The expo, which will feature everything alternative from Reiki practitioners and energy healers to alternative and holistic healing and wellness products, runs June 7 and 8 at the Community Centre, offering an admission-free, one stop shop for women seeking wellness and healing alternatives.
